I have said little in the media since 1991/2 when I led the fight in Mt Eliza to
move the whole of Mt Eliza into the Mornington Peninsula Shire. But I feel it is time to speak again
in relation to the Real Estate Industry in this area.
Over the past decade many new Agencies have come to roost in this little piece of heaven!
There are too many for all to survive and prosper and due to the lack of properties to sell, some are getting desperate!
In order to obtain your business, some will overprice your property and if that's not enough damage to you when it does
not sell, will drop their fees to ridiculously low levels.
You may say "well that's alright", but it is not!
The Agency which cuts their fees is desperate, desperate for a sale for some income, however small to
just to survive. In many cases, your interest in achieving the best price for your property, is not what they are chasing.
It is turnover at any cost. Successful Agents do not slash their fees.
Let's face it, if they can't negotiate a reasonable fee for their business, how on earth can they
negotiate the best price for you. Choosing the right Agent who will provide professional service with your total interest
at heart is the only decision you need to make.
Do you choose your Doctor based on cost or by ability and reputation?
Do you seek out the cheapest Accountant to manage your affairs?
Do you entrust the construction of your new home to the cheapest Builder you can find?
I could go on and on! At the end of the day a few dollars saved by employing a Real Estate
Agent who offers low fees can cost you tens of thousands of dollars which you will never recoup. With most people their home
is their biggest asset. Treat it carefully and maximize it's value.
As with all things in life you get what you pay for.
